FAQs

How many investor categories are accessible through WFD’s database?

The WFD database has 14 categories of investors: family offices, wealth advisors, funds of funds, consultants, endowments, foundations, government pensions, union pensions, corporate pensions, healthcare pensions, private banks, tax-exempt institutions, insurance companies, and sovereign wealth funds. All of the investors are accredited and have indicated an active interest in alternative funds.

What types of investor information does WFD include?

For all investor organizations, WFD includes a short investment overview plus general contact information as well as an individual contact. We also provide mandate information, such as fund type, strategy, track record, and asset size requirements and preferences.

I have all the contacts I need. How could you possibly help me?

Often, fund managers with an extensive list of friends, associates, and acquaintances find that their contact information is out of date. In addition, managers frequently don’t know their contacts’ current allocation plans. WFD’s service provides current contact information and investment plans. Our investor profiles are updated every 90 days to ensure accuracy.

How does WFD aggregate this information?

The information provided in the WFD database is licensed exclusively from Brighton House Associates. WFD is a wholly owned subsidiary of BHA, a premier research organization focused on the alternative investment industry. The BHA research team conducts one-on-one interviews with alternative investors and documents their investment plans and criteria.

What types of clients do you serve?

WFD serves all segments of the alternative investment community, including hedge funds, private equity and real estate funds, and funds of funds.

Does WFD have other products?

Yes, WFD has several database products tailored to emerging managers: the Emerging Manager Package, the Pension Package, and the Endowment and Charitable Institutions Package. Managers can also purchase databases by investor category.

In addition, WFD offers two publications. The Fund Manager’s Marketing Manifesto is a book on sales and marketing in the alternative investment space that teaches fund managers how to approach every step of the capital-raising process. The Inside Edge: Investor Perspectives on Emerging Managers provides fund managers with a precise understanding as to how investors evaluate and allocate to the emerging manager sector.

How are your products offered?

All WFD databases are offered as a one-year renewable service.

How soon can I access investor information?

You can access investor profiles as soon as you choose a database package and subscribe.
